Curtis and Liz started the C Bar L Ranch in 1994 with a small place in Bowie and a large dream. In 1997 they acquired their stallion Pines Alliance and started acquiring a couple of broodmares. They shortly outgrew that place and bought their dreamland located between Sunset and Forestburg. In 2001 their dream became a reality when they moved onto the ranch. Today, they raise five to eight quality foals every year and have expanded their breeding operation to include Appaloosas and Palominos. They strive to produce horses that are good minded and can excel in many different directions. Curtis and Liz have raised and trained all their own horses. Liz has worked with horses in some sort or fashion since a teenager in Junior High. In 2001, Liz started riding regularly with Mark Shaffer and has spent the last several years learning his outstanding program "Mechanics in Motion". In 2003, with Marks encouragement, Liz decided to forego her Amateur status and begin training full time. Today she keeps 10 to 15 horses in training. She still rides regularly with Mark Shaffer and works with him at all the large Appaloosa shows.
